Relatedly, a growing literature has identified how US-led areal bombing campaigns during the 1970s generated long-term negative consequences only to the extent that bombed states lacked the capacity to invest in the recovery of the affected areas (Miguel and Roland, 2011;Dell and Querubin, 2018;Riaño and Valencia Caicedo, 2020;Lin, 2020).
