Collision-induced hyper-Rayleigh light scattering in gaseous dihydrogen-neon mixtures

Abstract: Cartesian components of the collision-induced (CI) hyperpolarizability β tensor are computed for the linear, T-shaped, and 45 • configurations of the H 2 -Ne pair in the intermolecular range 3 to 14 bohr. Symmetry-adapted components β (K) λ L (R) of the vector (K = 1) part, as well as the septor (K = 3) part, of the H 2 -Ne CI hyperpolarizability are calculated starting from the ab initio Cartesian hyperpolarizability tensor values transformed into their spherical counterparts. By applying these quantities, … Show more

“…Besides, a series of articles devoted to the so-called hyper-Rayleigh collisional scattering have appeared in which a comparative study on the evolution of collisional properties (hyperpolarizabilities in this case) within the whole set of the H 2 -Rg compounds is discussed. [41][42][43][44][45][46][47] The ideas formulated in the previous paragraphs find their practical realization in this work. Namely, Sec.…”

“…This provides an opportunity to compare the magnitudes of the scattered signal with the contemporary devices' measuring ability. An attempt was made to this effect in an earlier work on the CIHR scattering in H2Ne mixtures 4 . According to the analysis performed there the measurable quantity of interest, i.e.…”

“…The basic feature that relays most of the relevant information on the scattering system is the CI translational spectral density function g(ν), which is strictly connected to the experimentally attainable roto-translational (R-T) double differential cross section defined as (detailed symbols denomination is given in referred papers 3,4 and references therein:…”

“…The former category of phenomena is represented, for instance, by investigations into nonlinear CI scattering processes on the complete (except Rn) collection of H 2 -Rg compounds undertaken in a series of works by the authors of this paper. [10][11][12][13] The isotropic CI Raman light scattering, which, after a rather lengthy silence has received fresh attention only recently, [14][15][16][17][18][19] is a typical example of latter works. The current work may be treated as a continuation and development of some of the earlier projects presented in Refs.…”
