Colloidal Platinum in Hydrogen-Rich Water Exhibits Radical-Scavenging Activity and Improves Blood Fluidity

Abstract: The 'colloidal platinum' stabilized with polyvinylpyrrolidone (Pt/PVP-colloid) was dispersed in hydrogen-rich water (HW; hydrogen concentration, 0.82 ppm; oxidation-reduction potential, -583 mV) or regular water (RW; <0.01 ppm, +218 mV). And we evaluated the antioxidant activity of Pt/PVP-colloid in HW or RW on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging and improvement of blood fluidity under 2,2'-azobis (2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH)-induced oxidative stress. When applied with the 0.25… Show more

“…For comparing HW with RW, the water characteristic parameters were measured with the different dilution rates (Table 2, Figures 1 and 2). It must be emphasized that some stable characteristic indicators and the proprieties for innocuity and harmlessness of hydrogen water were obtained from several separated in vivo and human experiments which we had reported [19-23]. Meanwhile, via tube-feeding, PU patients were enforced to intake HW of 600 mL per day, in the morning and afternoon for approximately one hour, respectively, immediately after HW was manufactured everytime.…”

“…It was reported by our research team that rosary-like aggregation of erythrocytes was caused by oxidative stress, together with disappearance of the surface dent structure being necessary for passage of erythrocytes within the inside of a capillary vessel being more narrow than a diameter of erythrocytes, but prevented by hydrogen water, as observed by scanning electron microscopy. 14 As another mechanism that underlies the hydrogen-promoted blood streams, oxidative stress-induced delay of blood streams passing through narrow channels in a blood-streaming rheology comb-shaped apparatus was observed to be restored by hydrogen water. 14 …”

“…Dozens of cisplatin analogs, such as carboplatin, oxaliplatin, nedaplatin, and lobaplatin, were synthesized and used in some limited range [4]. However, the efficacies of cisplatin and its analogs were primarily restricted by their poor water solubility, toxicity, and cross-resistance [5]. The rapid development of nanotechnology had promoted the in-depth study of platinum anticancer drugs [6].…”
