“…123 In patients with subtle examples of PI that may be difficult to diagnose, "target" air-enema CT has been advocated. 125,126 Endoscopy Macroscopic elevations of the mucosa make PI difficult to distinguish from other lesions evaluated by endoscopy. 103 Puncture and complete deflation have been advocated to confirm the diagnosis.…”

“…Carcinoid tumours and metastatic lesions can also manifest as submucosal masses. Barium enema, colonoscopy, abdomen CT, endoscopic ultrasonography are useful in its diagnosis 68. Endoscopic ultrasound helps in differentiating among these lesions by determining their layer of origin when they are accessible.…”

“…Colonoscopy is essential for excluding the possibility of diseases such as adenomatous polyposis or pseudopolyposis secondary to ulcerative colitis, and endoscopic ultrasonography may be able to rule out some of the disorders in the differential diagnosis of submucosal lesions. 13 Abdominal CT has been reported to be useful for detecting the intra- mural gas in patients with PI, particularly when the scans are obtained at the lung-window settings. However, sometimes, as in the current case, it is diffi cult to confi rm the diagnosis of PI even after performing these examinations.…”
