Coloration of flax woven fabrics using Taxus baccata heartwood‐mediated nanosilver

Abstract: Ecological nanosilver-based colours were biosynthesised from the heartwood of European yew (Taxus baccata) trees for the dyeing of flax woven fabrics through the implementation of in situ synthesis protocols. The produced lighter brown yellow to darker brown-yellow coloured nanosilver particles on flax woven fabrics were characterised in terms of morphological observations, metallic compositions, elemental mapping, chemical interactions, the presence of silver nanoparticle (AgNP) concentrations and colour char… Show more

“…The perceived results are also in agreement with the deposited AgNPs over nylon, cotton, flax, aramid, and glass woven fabrics too, which were reported previously. 33,35,36,41,42 The XRF analysis displays the concrete quantification values of the metallic silver present over the aramid fabrics.…”

“…In this regards, different attempts are taken by the scientists to nourish the sustainable coloration sector through employing different naturally derived materials like as flowers, barks, heartwoods, leaves, roots and so on to synthesize AgNPs (Hasan et al. , 2021c, d, e, f). Besides plant-based stabilizing agents, chitosan could be another excellent example of natural polysaccharides, i.e.…”
