Copper telluride nanoparticles are classified as the family of metal chalcogenides and were synthesized using a simple solvothermal method using a new source of telluride, ditelluride diphenyl. The characterized techniques revealed that the atomic composition of copper tellurides is Cu2Te and particles are spherical. This study is greatly examined by different designed experiments for the proof of the intrinsic peroxidase‐like activity of copper telluride nanoparticles and its effectiveness in a variety of similar structures. Cu2Te nanoparticles can convert peroxidase substrates (TMB and OPD) to colored products in the presence of H2O2. In addition, the as‐prepared nanoparticles have the potential to oxidize DPPH and ABTS substrates. Michaelis–Menten constant KM value for TMB and H2O2 was found to be 12 mM and 0.60 mM for H2O2 and the Vmax value of the Cu2Te was found to be TMB and H2O2 was 2.50×10−7 and 0.82×10−8 MS−1. These data are found to be almost comparable with natural peroxidase HRP and other artificial enzymes reported in the literature. The natural peroxidase‐like activities of Cu2Te nanoparticles originated from the catalytic decomposition of H2O2 into ⋅OH radical, which was confirmed from the ESR spin‐trapping technique and using a fluorescence probe, terephthalic acid.

Heavy metal hazardous and enduring characteristics present a noteworthy risk to both human well‐being and the ecosystem. Heavy metal level monitoring requires accurate and dependable detection techniques. This review emphasizes the requirement for sophisticated detection methods that can address the issues like sensitivity, selectivity, accuracy cost, ease of use of heavy metal ion and allow for more accurate and trustworthy monitoring using organic moiety. It offers a thorough overview of cutting‐edge organic moiety‐based heavy metal detection technique. It primarily discusses four different types of substituted core structures, including coumarin, porphyrin, Schiff bases, and terpyridine, along with their mechanisms, methods, detection limits, and appropriate metal bindings. These moieties exhibit strong coordination with heavy metal ions because of their distinct structural characteristics. They produce stable complexes with complicated ligand‐metal interactions that are useful in a variety of applications, including sensing and catalysis. Each probe was chosen based on its propensity or capacity to identify important analytes in practical applications. To increase the effectiveness and productivity of fluorescence sensing, researchers have recently been working to create new fluorescence chemosensors that can identify many ions at once.

A Water‐Stable Europium Metal‐Organic Framework as a Turn‐Off Fluorescence Sensor for Ascorbic Acid Detection in Human Serum

Ascorbic acid (AA) is a biomarker of some nervous system diseases, whose detection is of significance in many fields. The hydrothermal reaction of naphthalene‐2,6‐dicarboxylic acid (H2NDBC) with Eu3+ produced a europium MOF, Eu‐NDBC. Eu‐NDBC emits the combined emissions from the intraligand charge transfer (ILCT) of NDBC2‒ ligand and 5D0→7Fj (j = 1‐4) transfers of Eu(III). The factors of MOF dosage, pH and fluorescence response time are optimized as 0.6 mg, 7.35, and 5 min respectively. The sensitivity test shows a linear fitting equation of I0/I = 0.00239·CAA+1.03774 (CAA = AA concentration), with its limit of detection calculated as 4.53 µM in a wide linear range of 0‐900 µM. The linear fitting of Stern‐Volmer equation gives KSV = 2.46×103 M‒1 and Kq = 4.96×106 M‒1∙S‒1, suggesting Eu‐NDBC sensing AA is a dynamic fluorescence quenching process. Nine control amino acids can’t affect Eu‐NDBC sensing AA and the emission intensity stay stable in five fluorescence quenching‐recovery cycles. The returned CAA closed to the set CAA and the recoveries around 100% support the accurate AA detection by Eu‐NDBC in human serum. Totally, Eu‐NDBC can be regarded as a quantitative turn‐off fluorescence sensor to AA with high sensitivity and selectivity, rapid response and durability.
