“…Thin-layer chromatography of urinary oligosaccharides was performed on TLC sheets coated with silica using the solvent system n-propanol-acetic acid-water (85:1:I5 v/v). The chromatograms were either stained with orcinol:sulphuric acid for the detection of hexose-containing compounds (Dorland et al, 1986), or with the Ehrlich reagent for the detection of carbamidocontaining compounds (Bremer et al, 1981), or with orcinol-FeCl3-HC1 to visualize sialic acid-containing compounds (Schauer and Corfield, 1982).
