Combination chemotherapy with taxane and platinum in patients with salivary gland carcinoma: a retrospective study of docetaxel plus cisplatin and paclitaxel plus carboplatin

Abstract: BackgroundDespite advances in precision medicine, most patients with recurrent or metastatic salivary gland carcinoma still need conventional chemotherapies, such as the combination of taxane and platinum. However, evidence for these standardized regimens is limited.MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed patients with salivary gland carcinoma treated with a taxane and platinum, which contained docetaxel at a dose of 60 mg/m2 plus cisplatin at a dose of 70 mg/m2 on day 1, or paclitaxel at a dose of 100 mg/m2 plus c… Show more

“…High grade/multi-metastatic MEC is treated either with single-agent or polichemotherapy utilizing cisplatin, fluorouracil and paclitaxel. The most employed chemotherapy schemes are combination of cisplatin-vinorelbine, Carboplatin-paclitaxel, Cisplatin-vincristine-5Fluorouracil, cisplatin-gemcitabine, and PAC [ 69 ]. Nevertheless, significant objective responses are infrequent and short-lived.…”

“…Even in the case of SCs, systemic treatments are indicated in the presence of multi-metastatic disease that are not candidate to surgery. Even for SCs, polichemiotherapy includes cisplatin-containing doublets (cisplatin-5fluorouracil, cisplatin-docetaxel, cisplatin-doxorubicin, cisplatin-gemcitabine, cisplatin vinorelbine, and carboplatin-paclitaxel) and the CAP schedule [ 69 ].…”
