Combination of Electrodeposition and Transfer Processes for Flexible Thin-Film Thermoelectric Generators

Abstract: Abstract:To reduce consumption for ambient assisted living (AAL) applications, we propose the design and fabrication of flexible thin-film thermoelectric generators at a low manufacturing cost. The generators were fabricated using a combination of electrodeposition and transfer processes. N-type Bi 2 Te 3 films and p-type Sb 2 Te 3 films were formed on a stainless-steel substrate employing potentiostatic electrodeposition using a nitric acid-based bath, followed by a transfer process. Three types of flexible t… Show more

“…Other deposition methods for producing a conductive thin film from conductive metal nanomaterials are used less regularly than the methods introduced above; these include solution casting [66,67], the Langmuir-Blodgett deposition method [68,69], screen printing [32], stamp printing [70], electrophoretic deposition [71][72][73], and printing via laser ablation [74]. Among the methods introduced above, only some are scalable and feasible for industrial/commercial production (rod, spray, and dip coating), and more research is needed to increase compatibility with industrial demands.…”

“…In our previous studies, we fabricated a slope-type thin-film generator (STTEG) [41], and temperature differences were produced in the STTEG by placing them on a lower thermal conductive material by tilting them towards a heat source [42]. To optimize the design of STTEGs with high performance, it is necessary to evaluate the temperature distribution in the STTEGs over a wide range of setting conditions.…”
