Combination of Houttuynia cordata polysaccharide and Lactiplantibacillus plantarumP101 alleviates acute liver injury by regulating gut microbiota in mice

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Polysaccharides and probiotics can play an outstanding role in the treatment of liver disease by regulating gut microbiota. Recently, the combined therapeutic effect of probiotics and polysaccharides has attracted the attention of researchers. Houttuynia cordata polysaccharide (HCP) combined with Lactiplantibacillus plantarum P101 was used to prevent carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 )-induced acute liver injury (ALI) in mice, and its effect on gut microbiota regulation was explored.RESULTS: Results show… Show more

“…1(B), IL‐10 levels were significantly decreased ( P < 0.05) in model mice compared to control mice, whereas they were significantly increased in UC mice treated with OBG. Houttuynia cordata polysaccharide can alleviate intestinal inflammation via gut microbiota, 27 which suggests that OBG can alleviate UC through modulation of the immune response.…”

“…The probiotic strain used in this work was Lactobacillus plantarum P101, which was isolated from Chinese traditional pickled cabbage, and its probiotic properties have been systematically evaluated 26 . This strain has been conserved under conservation number CCTCC M 2021108 at the China Center for Type Culture Collection since 2021.…”

“…In previous studies, L. plantarum P101 has been demonstrated to prevent oxidative damage in mouse liver induced by CCl 4 or cyclophosphamide, as well as mitigate liver or sperm damage induced by lead in obese mice. 17–20 This study aimed to investigate the ability of L. plantarum P101 to alleviate alcohol-induced liver injury in mice and to further identify the key metabolites of the gut microbiome mediated by L. plantarum P101. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the influence of gut microbiota and their derivatives on the health and homeostasis of extraintestinal organs.…”
