Combination of CD160 and CD200 as a useful tool for differential diagnosis between chronic lymphocytic leukemia and other mature B‐cell neoplasms

Abstract: CDs160/200 were associated with markers of the gold standard 'Matutes score' and could be useful markers to differentiate atypical CLL from other B-cell neoplasms in the absence of available biopsies or cytogenetics and molecular studies.

“…A striking difference in CD200 expression on CLL versus MCL cells was found, with all 56 typical CLL samples positive for CD200 and all of the 6 MCL samples expressing little or no CD200, consistent with previous reports . The median % of cells positive for CD200 in our typical CLL cohort (99.5%) is very similar to the 94%, 96%, and 100% expression found in previous studies.…”

“…CD54 and CD160 were assessed because they have been proposed to distinguish between CLL and MCL . However, CD54 did not differ between CLL and MCL.…”

“…Recently, several new markers which are considered to be commonly expressed by neoplastic CLL cells have been identified . Among them, CD200, a member of the Ig receptors membrane proteins superfamily, has been suggested to be rather specific for CLL . The present study aimed to analyze the role of CD200 in the diagnosis of CLL and whether this marker adds discriminant power to the MS.…”

“…Positivity of CD200 using MFIR values was also assessed. The positivity threshold was set up at 18 according to a prior study and was confirmed by receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves.…”
