Combined effect of IL‐10 and TGF‐β1 promoter polymorphisms as a risk factor for aspirin‐intolerant asthma and rhinosinusitis

Abstract: Our results suggest that IL-10 promoter polymorphisms contribute to the development of AIA and that rhinosinusitis may interact genetically with TGF-beta1.

“…Similar results were observed in asthmatics in a North Indian population (Chatterjee et al, 2005) and allergic patients (women) in a French population (Guglielmi et al, 2006), whereas aspirin-intolerant asthma and rhinosinusitis patients in Korean population (Kim et al, 2009), bronchial asthma in Macedonian population, and atopic dermatitis in European population showed no association (Trajkov et al, 2008;Lacy et al, 2009).…”

“…Three genetic variants (rs1800896, rs1800871, and rs1800872) in the IL-10 gene have been extensively investigated in relation to infectious diseases (9, 27, 34) and allergic conditions (11,20). We previously identified complete linkage between rs1800871 and rs1800872, and therefore in the present study we excluded rs1800871 and included an additional intronic IL-10 SNP rs1518110 (6).…”

“…The frequency of this SNP in combination with the -592A>G variant in TGF-1 was higher in AIA patients compared with those with good tolerance [131]. Two promoter polymorphisms of TNF-at -1031T>C and -863C>A have recently been suggested to contribute to the development of AIU [132].…”
