Combined effects of NPK fertilizer with foliar application of benzyladenine or gibberellic acid on Dracaena marginata ‘Bicolor’ grown in different potting media

Abstract: A pot experiments was carried out to evaluate the influence of growing media and combined treatments of NPK with either benzyladenine or gibberellic acid on growth, chemical constituents and anatomical structure of Dracaena marginata ‘Bicolor’. The plants were grown in two growing media; peat-moss, peat-moss+ sand (1:1, v v-1), received monthly NPK fertilizers (2 and 4 g pot-1) combined with either of benzyl adenine (BA) at 100 and 150 ppm or gibberellic acid (GA3) at 150 and 250 ppm, while the control plants … Show more

“…In a study of the addition of NPK 20-20-20 at various doses performed by Mohamed (2018) with Dypsis cabadae, increasing doses of NPK 20-20-20 increased the levels of endogenous IAA and total GAs. A similar result was reported for the addition of NPK 19-19-19 by Ashour et al (2023) with Ervatamia coronaria. There are no available reports on the effect of a variety of chemical fertilization regimens in enhancing endogenous SA.…”

“…The study revealed significant impacts on plant height, stem diameter, leaf quantity, leaf area, fresh and dry weight, dry matter percentage, chlorophyll content (including chlorophyll a, b, and total chlorophyll), carotenoids, as well as the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. The researcher [18] substantiated their findings through a research investigation involving the aromatic Darsina plant. The experiment encompassed the application of varying levels of nitrogen fertilizer (0, 0.5, and 1.5 g of ammonium sulfate per pot) and phosphate fertilizer (0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 g of triple superphosphate per pot) within pots of 20 cm in diameter.…”
