“…Moreover, the formation of C^N bonds has been also observed when polyimide were irradiated by high energy beam. 6,36,37 Fig . 7 shows SEM images of polyimide lm surfaces aer irradiation-load-heating coupling treatment with different electron uences.…”

“…Currently, a number of conventional techniques, such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), mechanical property measurements, and spectroscopic analysis, have been attempted to investigate different aging pathways of polymers. , Unfortunately, all these attempts have failed so far for the lack of spatiotemporal resolution. For example, although TGA and mechanical property measurements could estimate the overall performances of polymers at a macroscopic scale, it is impossible to provide direct information for chemical changes in the backbone of polymers; , Spectroscopic analyses, such as infrared, Raman, nuclear magnetic resonance, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies, can be used to provide some information on polymer functional groups. However, these techniques failed to provide three-dimensional evaluation on polymer aging. Therefore, it is a long-standing challenge to distinguish and quantify the different aging pathways of polymers with high spatiotemporal resolution.…”

“…Decayed intensity of C–N bonds was induced by the chain scission of imide structure of PI. Quantified analysis for the varied chemical bonds in PI was carried out by Novikov and co-workers . PI1–5 represented the PI films under irradiation with the proton fluence increased from 0 to 1.0 × 10 15 , 1.0 × 10 15 , 2.5 × 10 15 , 5.0 × 10 15 , and 7.5 × 10 15 cm –2 , respectively.…”
