Abstract:The phagocyte NADPH oxidase complex (NOX2) is activated by various intracellular stimuli, resulting in the generation of reactive oxygen species, which are responsible for many physiological processes, including innate immune defense. Structures of the cytochrome b558, membrane catalytic core of the complex, in their resting state have been solved experimentally. Unfortunately, very little is known about the structure of the active complex, as it involves the assembly of modular proteins and disordered regions… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
