Commentary on Rosen et al.: Attending to the unique needs of pregnant and parenting women at risk for overdose

Abstract

Women experience unique determinants of overdose risk, including fears concerning child protective services involvement and child custody loss. When addressing the DECLARATION OF INTERESTSL.L. is a staff member of the Washoe County Human Services Agency, in the CQI unit of Children's Services. 1 These concerns can and certainly do extend to non-female-identified pregnant and parenting people. For the sake of this brief, we restrict our comments to female-identified people, while acknowledging that issues related to non-female-identified people who are positioned within networks of care-taking are both pressing and in need of specialized attention.
