Common Causes of Anaemia in the Elderly*

Abstract: The results of an investigation into normal haematological values for the older person, carried out in my own practice, are shown in Table 1. They are in general agreement with those reported in the literature. These values are slightly lower than those usually accepted for healthy young adults. Myelograms, also performed, were in close quantitative agreement with those of younger subjects.
