Abstract: Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) signalling via ERK exerts diverse roles in development and disease. In mammalian preimplantation embryos and naive pluripotent stem cells ERK promotes differentiation, whereas in primed pluripotent states closer to somatic differentiation ERK sustains self-renewal.
