Community-Based Monitoring for Rapid Assessment of Nearshore Coral Reefs Amid Disturbances in Teahupo’o, Tahiti

Abstract: Nearshore coral reefs at Teahupo’o, Tahiti, are currently threatened by destruction from proposed plans to build a new judging tower in the reef lagoon for the 2024 Olympic surfing event. Local community members were trained to utilize 3D photogrammetry techniques to create high-resolution habitat maps of three sites that will be impacted by dredging and tower construction.
