Agriculture of Bangladesh is closely dependent on weather, rainfall pattern and land formation. However, frequent hydro-meteorological hazards cause to adversely affect the normal agricultural process and production. This study aimed to assess the impact of Hydro meteorological hazards on the crop cultivation practices, possible mitigation and adaptation measures for the farmers at Chalan Beel area under Pabna district, Bangladesh. There are 90 people having land and engaged with crop cultivation directly at Chalan Beel were been selected by applying purposive sampling method and interviewed by a pre-designed semi-structured questionnaire through face to face interview. The results revealed that Rice (93.75 %) and Garlic (47.5 %) are the major cultivating crops at Chalan Beel and 96 % of the farmers were been experienced with hydrometeorological devastation. The farmers perceived Nor’wester (77.9 %) as the most frequent hazard causing crop damage following by Heavy Rainfall (71.4 %), Hailstorm (68.8 %), Heavy Wind (45.5 %), Flashflood (42.9 %), Heavy Fog and Floods (19.5 % and 11.7 %) respectively. It is also identified that Nor’wester (58.4 %) and Heavy Rainfall (58.4 %) had maximum damage whereas Hailstorm (55.8 %), Heavy Wind and Flashflood also considerable adverse effects on overall crop production at this area. Only 24 % of farmers were found to change their cultivation pattern as the adaptation measure. This study portrayed that hydro-meteorological hazards are adversely affecting the crop production at Chalan Beel area and resulting economic loss. Therefore, government should ensure the participation of farmers along with adopting their deliberative in developing a strategic plan for providing technical support for diversification and training to adapt in this hazard prone area. Latar Belakang: Kabupaten Bojonegoro merupakan salah satu kabupaten yang dilewati oleh sungai Bengawan Solo, serta menjadikan aliran sungai sebagai sarana transportasi warga. Transportasi ini lebih cepat daripada transportasi darat, tapi faktor keamanan dan keselamatan masih menjadi masalah utama dalam transportasi tersebut. Tujuan: Menerapkan K-Modes Clustering untuk menentukan Cluster pos penyeberangan mana yang masih kekurangan fasilitas atau perlengkapan keselamatan, sehingga memudahkan Dinas Perhubungan untuk mengevaluasi dan mengambil kebijakan. Metode: Digunakan metode yaitu K-Modes Clustering dan Algoritma Elbow untuk pengelompokkan data kategorik dengan bantuan software R. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kabupaten Bojonegoro dengan menggunakan data dari Dinas Perhubungan Kabupaten Bojonegoro dengan kriteria data adalah papan himbauan, papan penunjuk arah, rambu sungai, PJU, shelter, trap tambangan, bantuan life jacket, dan ring buoy. Hasil: Diperoleh hasil tiga centroid dengan karakteristik berbeda yaitu Cluster 1 rata-rata masih minim pada fasilitas papan himbauan, trap tambangan, serta life jaket dan ring buoy sehingga masuk karakteristik fasilitas rendah, Cluster 2 minim pada papan penunjuk arah, rambu sungai, PJU, Life jaket dan ring buoy sehingga tergolong karateristik fasilitas tinggi, dan Cluster 3 rata-rata hanya minim pada papan himbauan, papan penunjuk arah, serta life jaket dan ring buoy sehingga digolongkan karateristik fasilitas sedang. Kesimpulan: Angkutan Sungai dan Penyeberangan di Kabupaten Bojonegoro dikelompokkan menjadi 3 Clusters yaitu Cluster rendah, Cluster sedang, dan Cluster tinggi.

Dependency on forest resources poses a threat to the environment in Patharghata, Bangladesh. Therefore, this study explores the role of forest resource in the life and livelihood of coastal people as well as to understand the effectiveness of forest and status of forest dependency in and around south-central coast in Patharghata, Bangladesh. We collected data randomly from 105 household heads through both open and close-ended questionnaire. To investigate the forest dependency and people's perception regarding alternative solutions, Microsoft excel software program has been applied. The findings reveal that usage of fuelwood in cooking, housing structure, fish catching, honey & fodder collection significantly contributes to household dependency on forest resources, while other variables seem to be insignificant. Our study amplifies that the share of forest income to the total household income was only 19% while other earning sources provided 81% income. The result shows that respondent people collect forest resources primarily for cooking purpose with a share of 71% where 9% forest resources are collected as fodder followed by 8% forest resource collection as food and sheltering purposes. Moreover, the study found that using alternative cooking system, artificial instruments, declaring the forest as tourist spot, changes in housing structure, occupation are some effective options to reduce forest dependency. The study concludes that these alternative options need more financial and other support from the government, non-government and other civil society organizations to cut down forest resource dependency.
