Compact, dual polarized, mutliband frequency selective surface with wideband spurious rejection

Abstract: A miniaturized multiband bandstop frequency selective surface (FSS) based on square loop structures with wideband spurious rejection is proposed. This structure can eliminate the spurious frequency up to 30 GHz when the loop structure act as a spatial band stop filter at 7.2 GHz. Significant capacitor achieved by parasitic patch loading of the structure create a new resonance at a lower frequency when the lumped inductor added and made a new compact multiband FSS structure. The proposed FSSs has similar attrib… Show more

“…In order to satisfy these requirements, multiple bandstop FSS with polarization insensitivity and stability under oblique incidence are seeking attention and have been reported in recent literature [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. However, for FSS structures acting as multiple bandstop filter (BSF), the response under oblique incidence gets worse as it approaches towards grazing angle of ± 90°.…”

“…Although these early two references are dual‐polarized, angular stable and multi‐band, their resonant frequencies are close and wide controlling the frequencies in the design procedure is not possible. The loop and dipole structure can become more compact by adding capacitive or inductive loading . In addition to discrete components, capacitive loading can be achieved by using vias (metalized vertical holes in substrate) …”
