Compact Left-Handed Meta-Atom for S-, C- and Ku-Band Application

Abstract: Abstract:A new compact left-handed meta-atom for S-, C-and Ku-band applications is presented in this paper. The proposed structure provides a wide bandwidth and exhibits left-handed characteristics at 0 • , 90 • , 180 • and 270 • (xy-axes) rotations. Besides, the left-handed characteristics and wide bandwidth of 1 × 2, 2 × 2, 3 × 3 and 4 × 4 arrays are also investigated at the above-mentioned rotation angles. In this study, the meta-atom is designed by creating splits at the outer and inner square-shaped ring … Show more

“…The expected performances in terms of return loss, gain, S-parameter, radiation patterns of the metamaterial embedded antenna have been investigated and numerically optimized with the help of electromagnetic simulation CST Microwave Studio, which generates the finite integration technique of Maxwell’s equations within boundary condition. To analyse the characteristics of the proposed metamaterial structure for embedded in the antenna structure reflection ( S 11 ) and transmission ( S 21 ) coefficients are extracted to calculate the effective permittivity ( ε r ), permeability ( μ r ), and refractive index ( n r ) are expressed as follows 22,23 ,…”

“…Wang et al presented a five-band terahertz absorber by assembling three nested split-ring resonators (SRRs) with slightly different sizes [26]. Kim et al [27] proposed an ultra-broadband [28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35] absorber based on multi-layers. Moreover, Cheng et al [36] greatly enhanced the bandwidth of a broadband MA by loading lumped resistors.…”
