-A free-space transmission-reflection measurement method for the non-destructive electrical characterization of carbon nanotube based composites was developed. Specifically, this versatile method measures the dielectric properties of the sample in the Q-band, corresponding to a frequency range of 30 GHz to 50 GHz, and can be used with specimens that are either thinner or thicker than the radiation penetration depth. This method also involves an error correction model in order to accurately reconstruct the constitutive dielectric properties of the composites from the measured scattering parameters. In order to perform the error-correction only two reference scattering parameters measurements are required: one from a metal plate of known reflection coefficient and the other from air with no specimen. The simplicity of our error-correction model makes the method attractive for research, development, and for quality control in the manufacturing environment.

The interest from both consumers and industry toward flexible and organic electronics has grown enormously due to the unique properties of the materials used (flexible, stretchable, reconfigurable, and not easily breakable). In radio frequency and electronic organic systems fabrication, one important feature is the substrate complex dielectric constant. Particularly, in the context of the development of printed organic electronics technology, one of the major challenges is the knowledge of the effect on substrates complex dielectric constant retrieval when using organic conductive materials instead of classical metals (gold, copper, etc). Indeed, the precision on the determination of this parameter depends also on the characteristics of the conductive material used for the characterization of the substrate. When looking to full polymer devices, it is important to evaluate the precision on the determination of the parameters of interest without using metallic structures for the tests. This paper presents the characterization of a substrate on which a conductive polymer, polyaniline (PANI) doped with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is deposited. The characterization technique is based on the well‐known 2 microstrip lines method. The microstrip lines, fabricated from PANI/MWCNTs, are processed on a substrate made of Kapton, which is a good candidate for flexible electronics. The extraction of the complex dielectric constant is made on the frequency range (1‐8 GHz).

Pathology is an important branch of science in the diagnosis and treatment of several diseases. In cancer diseases, serious investigations have been made about the course of the diseases. A report that is essential for both the patient and the doctor is prepared by the pathologists as a result of a detailed cellular examination. These reports contain information about the disease. Access duration to these reports, which affects the form and duration of the treatment, is extremely important today. It is possible to shorten this period with systems using antenna technologies. The pathological breast tissue samples have been examined by using horn antenna structures with high gain in this study. Dual identical horn antennas have been placed opposite each other as receivers and transmitters in the measurement setup at 24 GHz. Measurements of normal and cancerous breast tissues have been made, and the normalization process has been applied to the measured scattering parameters. The different values between normal and cancerous breast tissues have been shown with this process. The normalized values are compared with other analyzed values. According to the results obtained, the percentage of normalized values for transmission is much more effective and meaningful than other results.
