Comparative Analysis of Compact Satellite Polarizers Based on a Guide with Diaphragms

Abstract: In this article we carry out the comparative analysis of new compact satellite polarisers based on a square guide with diaphragms. The main electromagnetic parameters of the developed microwave guide devices with various amount of diaphragms were obtained within the satellite frequency interval from 10.7 GHz to 12.75 GHz. Waveguide polarization converters with different amount of diaphragms from 2 to 5 have been designed and optimized. The main parameters of the presented polarizer were calculated applying the… Show more

“…The mathematical calculation and initial estimation of electromagnetic characteristics of a waveguide polarizers with diaphragms is usually carried out by means of the theory of equivalent microwave circuits [84]. It was implemented before using wave scattering and transmission matrices in [85][86][87]. This approach makes it possible to express the basic values of the polarizer through the elements of the generalized transmission or scattering matrix.…”

“…Wideband antenna systems with the possibility of simultaneous operation at two orthogonal circular or linear polarizations require application of specific kinds of waveguides (with irises, 22–30 ridges, 31–39 corrugations, 40–44 posts, 45–50 or a longitudinal septum 51,52 ) and microwave devices in the antenna system's structure 53–60 . One of frequently used and compact solutions for the operation at two orthogonal circular polarizations are the integration of a septum‐based polarization converter into a waveguide antenna feed system 61–65 .…”
