It is known that many farmers have abandoned local gogo rice in Padang Lawas Regency, because they have many shortcomings such as long maturity, low total grain count, and high plant height. However, in addition to its shortcomings, there are advantages such as resistance to stress. Characterization in plant breeding can be done in terms of agronomy, morphology, nutritional content, and molecular markers. Utilization through RAPD molecular markers is expected to identify characteristics of gogo rice plants so that genetic improvement can be carried out. This study aims to determine the diversity of genetic information of gogo rice from Padang Lawas Regency based on RAPD molecular markers. This study was conducted from October 2023 to April 2024. The genetic material in this study was 14 local gogo rice cultivars introduced. Samples of gogo rice cultivars were isolated and amplified using 2 RAPD primers, namely OPB 7 and OPD 2. The UPGMA cluster analysis method and PCoA analysis used MVSP software version 3.2. The results of amplification with 5 RAPD primers produced a percentage of polymorphic bands of 100%. The diversity of 14 local gogo rice cultivars is included in the moderate category with a similarity coefficient of 40%.
