“…These findings were associated with a reduced survival in offspring whose 'fathers' were treated with HAART, anti-Koch's and HAART + Anti-Koch's. These observations are in tandem with previous studies that documented reduced fertility capacity, lower litter size and weight and reduced survival of offspring of HAART and/or anti-Koch's-treated parents (Onwuamah et al, 2014;Shayakhmetova et al, 2015Shayakhmetova et al, , 2017). The reduced fertility success and fertility index are, at least partly, secondary to HAART-and Anti-Koch's-caused impaired sexual performance and poor sperm quality, while the observed lower litter size and weight might be due to an epigenetic modification with alterations in offspring quality.…”

“…Although there are no published data available to compare our findings on neither the effects of HAART and anti-Koch's on sexual competence nor the impacts of co-administration of these drugs on reproductive hormones and sperm quality with, the observed perturbation of male reproductive hormonal balance and poor sperm quality after HAART and anti-Koch's treatment agrees with previous data. Studies of Shayakhmetova et al (2015), Shayakhmetova et al (2017) observed that isoniazid, a component of anti-Koch's cocktail induced impaired spermatogenesis and sperm DNA damage. Studies on isoniazid and streptomycin also revealed that these drugs when co-administered significantly alter sperm morphology (Alp et al, 2012).…”

“…And finally, it was a suppression of the xenobiotic‐metabolizing CYP expression by negative regulators such as inflammation. Previous studies reported that non‐steroidogenic P450s including CYP2E1 and CYP3A2 were present in rat testis . Tebuconazole dose‐dependently decreased testicular aniline hydroxylase (CYP2E1) and erythromycin N‐demethylase (CYP3A) activities, confirming the presence of these P450s in rat testis and further indicating their responsiveness to xenobiotic inhibitory effects.…”

“…Moreover, it is worth noting that the nutritionally essential amino acids found in barley grain (i.e. lysine, methionine, cysteine and tryptophan; [19]) exert positive effects on spermatogenesis, sperm quality and fertility [20][21][22]. Taking into account that spermatogenesis in small domestic ruminants (i.e.…”
