Comparative Metabolomic Analysis of Rapeseeds from Three Countries

Abstract: Rapeseed is an important oilseed with proper fatty acid composition and abundant bioactive components. Canada and China are the two major rapeseed-producing countries all over the world. Meanwhile, Canada and Mongolia are major importers of rapeseed due to the great demand for rapeseed in China. To investigate the metabolites in rapeseeds from three countries, ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS)-based metabolomics was employed to analyze rapeseeds… Show more

“…Other metabolites, such as flavonol, which is an antioxidant, were produced by catalysis of FLS synthase [ 28 ]. Similarly, trpD abundance was distinctly increased in NS under cold stress [ 29 ]. TrpD can catalyze the conversion of anthranilate to tryptophan, and tryptophan can enhance the activity of SOD and GSH-PX as well as suppress the accumulation of MDA.…”

“…The data processing method was described in detail in a previous publication [32,33]. Quantification data obtained from UPLC-MS were performed to PCA and PLS-DA (partial least squares-discriminant analysis, SIMCA-P (v13.0); Umetrics, Umea, Sweden) to assess the similarity between groups of data.…”

“…In the market there are available pressed, unrefined oils containing valuable nutrients. Rapeseed oil has a lower concentration of saturated fatty acids (5−10%), higher content of monounsaturated fatty acids (44−75%), and moderate content of α-linolenic acid (9−13%) [3]. The production of cold-pressed oil is inefficient, while the production of hot-pressed oil results in its dark colour and the presence of phospholipids that are harmful to health.…”
