Comparative Study of Saline Sono Salpingography (SSG) and Laparoscopy with Chromopertubation in Evaluation of Tubal Patency

Abstract: Background In the field of infertility, tubal factor has a great role. So the assessment of tubal patency belongs to the initial diagnostic tests in the work-up of an infertile woman. During the past few years, sonosalpingography has been suggested as the firstline method to study tubal patency. This comparative study of transvaginal saline SSG to the gold standard method of diagnostic laparoscopy with chromopertubation was performed for the assessment of tubal patency in infertile women. Methods At firs… Show more

“…For the treatment of infertility, it is very crucial to establish that the fallopian tubes are patent. 9 In the present study, a majority (41.2%) of the women belonged to the age range of 25-29 years, while the mean±standard deviation (SD) was 28±4.5 years. Out of 35 women, the education level of 15 (41.1%) women were up to secondary school level while 8 (23.5%) women were healthcare workers and 6 (17.6%) women were service holders.…”

“…5 It has been recommended in recent years that sonosalpingography should be utilized as the initial step for determining tubal patency. 6 Tubal patency was assessed using both negative and positive contrasts. When the turbulence of the contrast may be seen on the side or in the Douglas pouch, the tube is deemed patent.…”
