Comparative Study of Various Polymeric Superdisintegrants on the Design and Evaluation of Novel Antihypertensive Orodispersible Tablets

Abstract: Superdisintegrants are major participants in orodispersible tablets (ODTs) to accord fast disintegration. A myriad of natural and synthetic disintegrants have been utilized. In present work, antihypertensive ODTs of atenolol and atorvastatin calcium were prepared in two groups based on a combination of superdisintegrants, i.e., F1-F15 (sodium starch glycolate and pregelatinized starch) and F16-F30 (croscarmellose sodium and Kyron T 134 ). The direct compression method was adapted along with the effervescence a… Show more

“…Except the MO-T mixture, the FTIR spectra (Figure 7) of the binary mixtures contain the individual fingerprints of the MO and excipient, without any additional new absorption bands. The FT-IR spectrum of CC (Figure 7a) is similar to that reported by Sarfraz et al [29]. S (Figure 7b) presents a wide band at 3417 cm -1 attributed to the stretching vibration of the O-H bond and a band at 2918 cm -1 attributed to the C-H bond.…”

“…The A-IBP coating spectrum exhibits a broad OH stretching vibration band that is likely due to excipients in the formulation, including hydroxypropyl methylcellulose [24][25][26] and sodium croscarmellose. [27][28][29] The shoulder at 3560 cm À1 may indicate the presence of polysorbate 80. [30][31][32] The E-IBP coating spectrum contains a sharp band near 1700 cm À1 characteristic of the C]O stretching vibration of ibuprofen that is not present in the A-IBP spectrum.…”
