Comparative study on the water quality status of Andra reservoir and Denkada anicut constructed on Champavati River, Vizianagaram, India

Abstract: The author's present study was carried out for a period of 3 years from 2010 to 2013 to itemize the various physico-chemical parameters, irrigation water quality parameters and heavy metals in Champavathi River waters at Andra reservoir and Denkada anicut. Water samples were collected from the chosen sampling stations of the two reservoirs for every 4 months and analyzed as per APHA standard methods. The results obtained were compared with IS 10500 standards and found to be well within the prescribed values. T… Show more

“…In general, the water is considered to be polluted when its quality impaired by several anthropological activities (Birjandi et al 2016). Some of the major sources responsible for water pollution are excess discharge of untreated sewage from various industries, waste water production due to anthropological activities released in the rivers, costal area (Sharma et al 2017;Kumar and Krishna 2017). The major contribution for water pollution reported due to untreated effluent of drugs, dyes, chemicals, pharmaceutical industries and nuclear waste, which are found to be huge pestilent.…”

“…The amount of aquatic habitat is more than any other habitat. A productive reservoir is mostly dependent upon the significant biological and physico-chemical characteristics (Kumar & Krishna, 2017). The physical as well as the chemical properties of water has a greatly affected its use, richness and the distribution of the biota of an area (Hardikar, et al, 2017).…”
