“…These findings indicate that the formation of ARs induced by hypocotyl shading may be related to the accumulation of JA-ILE and enhanced signaling. Meanwhile, the significant accumulation of JA-ILE and JA, accompany the upregulation of MYC2 induced by exogenous melatonin may further activate the expression of JA-responsive genes, thereby significantly promoting AR formation, in accordance with the finding that JA acts as a accelerator of AR formation in tea plants (Fan et al, 2021).…”

“…ABA 8’-hydroxylase catalyzes the oxidative degradation of ABA, while β-glucosidase (β-Glu) can hydrolyze ABA gluconate into bioactive ABA. Studies on tea plants showed that ABA content was higher in the easy-to-root cultivar, which indicate that ABA is involved in the occurrence of AR ( Fan et al., 2021 ). In our study, the expression of β-Glu (CsaV3_1G042500, CsaV3_1G042530 and CsaV3_1G042540) were significantly upregulated by hypocotyl shading and melatonin further upregulated these genes under hypocotyl shading conditions, while ABA 8′-hydroxylase was inhibited by melatonin ( Figure 6A , Supplementary Table S1 ).…”

“…ABA was considered an inhibitor of the rooting of Eucalyptus globulus [17], but in this study, its content also increased first and then decreased, increasing during the rooting period (Figure 2). In addition, in previous studies, ABA had the highest content under blue light, which was most favorable for rooting [4] and was highest in the new shoots of the easily rooted C. sinensis 'Baihaozao' [11]. These differences may be related to the different ABA distribution in different tissues, and the ABA metabolism in mature leaves is not the same as the base of cuttings.…”

“…In addition, the ratio of ICA/GA9 showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing (Figure 2). Fan et al's (2021) study showed that the IAA/GA3 ratio in the new shoots of the best rooting C. sinensis 'Baihaozao' was significantly higher than other varieties [11], which also explains the reason for the increase in ICA/GA9 ratio in the early stage (Figure 2). JA can rapidly accumulate in the rooting induction stage of Petunia hybrida cuttings [19], which indicates that JA can promote adventitious root formation.…”

“…On the other hand, LAX3 is also active during adventitious root formation ( Rovere et al, 2016 ). In addition, Fan et al (2021) showed that the AUX1/LAX family was considered to be the key gene for adventitious root formation by studying the cuttings of three varieties of tea with different rooting abilities. Meanwhile, Yousef et al (2021) investigated the effect of different light qualities on graft union formation in grafted tomatoes and showed that the expression levels of both AUX1 and ARF were higher in blue LEDs than in red LEDs and white fluorescence.…”
