Comparison of central visual sensitivity between monocular and binocular testing in advanced glaucoma patients using imo perimetry

Abstract: Background/AimThis study aimed to compare central visual sensitivity under monocular and binocular conditions in patients with glaucoma using the new imo static perimetry.MethodsFifty-one consecutive eyes of 51 patients with open-angle glaucoma who were affected with at least one significant point in the central 10° were examined in this cross-sectional study. Monocular and binocular random single-eye tests were performed using the imo perimeter and the Humphrey field analyser (HFA) 24-2 and 10-2 tests. The ey… Show more

“…We tested VF testing with different gaze conditions using the imo perimeter (Fig. 3) as described previously [28][29][30][31] . Briefly, during an imo test, the target is presented to either eye using a full high-definition transmissive liquid crystal display and is backlit with a high-intensity light-emitting diode.…”

“…In addition, it can also perform a simultaneous binocular eye test. In this mode, a test target is shown in both eyes at a similar location, size and intensity (Figure 8c) (Kumagai et al 2020). 'imo' can track the pupil during the test and can correct for pupil deviation of ± 5 degrees.…”

“…The evacuation route connects one area to a safe area and meets feasible building requirements to deal with the dangerous emergency response (Rahman and Sinaga 2019). The use of binoculars provides several advantages for tourists, including visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and a clearer vision than monocular/direct vision (Kumagai et al 2020). Thus, it facilitates for tourists to see the object.…”
