“…The results of in situ hybridization showed that when the gonads turned to the pure testis, the ovarian cells were not present, and the Cv‐Amh signals were more densely distributed in SCs than in germ cells. The sign of gonadal reversal beginning of C. Vrolikii is the appearance of male germ cells in the ovary, followed by the gonad further differentiating, and eventually transforming into pure testis (Zhong et al ., 2021). These results showed that Cv ‐ Amh is male‐biased, especially a test is biased gene.…”

“…At present, most C. vrolikii come from wild fishing, and artificial breeding has not yet broken through, which has become the restriction factor in meeting the needs of the market (Zhong et al ., 2021). Previously, the authors used RNA‐Seq technology to screen the differentially expressed genes (DEG) in C. vrolikii gonads at various stages (Zhong et al ., 2021), and the pluripotent transcription factor Nanog was cloned and analysed (Zhong et al ., 2022). The regulatory network of Amh has been extensively studied in mammals, but the molecular mechanism of the regulatory network in C. vrolikii has not been reported.…”

“…In medaka, the expression of Nanog was exhibited in the gonads, predominantly in pluripotent cells (Camp et al, 2009. C. vrolikii is a naturally reversed sh, the mark of the beginning of the gonad reversal is the male germ cells beginning to appear in the ovary, named hermaphrodite, and then the male germ cells are further differentiated, nally the gonad was transformed into pure testis (Zhong et al, 2021). In this study, there were differences in the expression of Cv-Nanog in gonadal tissues at different developmental stages with the level O > O > O T > T in turn (Fig.…”

“…At present, C. vrolikii is obtained mainly by wild shing, but due to the increase of market demand and the destruction of ecological environment, the natural yield of C. vrolikii decreases year by year, and the arti cial breeding is inevitable. However, as a kind of protogynous hermaphrodite and natural sexual reversion sh, the disadvantages of long breeding cycle and di cult arti cial breeding become the main restricting factor for the breeding of C. vrolikii (Zhong et al, 2021). Therefore, it is indispensable to study the molecular regulation mechanism of gonadal development in C. vrolikii.…”
