Comparison of electroless Ni-P/ Ni-B on corrosion performance

Abstract: This research work compares annealed and as-coated electroless Ni-P's resistance to corrosion and electroless Ni-B coating prepared on the mild steel substrate. The coatings' resistance to corrosion was estimated by Tafel electro chemical polarization method utilizing electrochemical analyser in 3.5wt % solution of Sodium Chloride. Both the coatings' annealing temperatures were maintained at normal intervals to consider their corrosion resistance performance. Further, the corrosion behaviour of both the coatin… Show more

“…The hardness as well as wear behaviours are observed to improve upon heat treatment with precipitation of various boride phases such as Ni 2 B, Ni 3 B due to heat treatment [18,19]. On the contrary, corrosion behaviour is seen to become worse upon heat treatment [5,20]. The nano-hardness, as well as Young's modulus, is obtained using loading and unloading curve through nanoindentation technique.…”

“…Therefore, the hydration prevention of nickel could be happened. 26,27 The annealing temperature increases above 400°C, the intensities of Ni and Ni 3 P reflections were considerably increased and had become narrow. Meanwhile, Due to the lower concentration of TiO 2 nanoparticles, lesser number of peaks were observed in the X-ray pattern 6 as shown in Figure 5.…”
