Comparison of Enzymatic Assay for HBA1C Measurement (Abbott Architect) With Capillary Electrophoresis (Sebia Minicap Flex Piercing Analyser)

Abstract: The enzymatic method proved to be comparable to the CE method in analytical performances; however, certain interferences can influence the measurements of each method.

“…Concentration in blood of a variant of hemoglobin A HbA1c -the non-enzymatic reaction product of glucose and the N-terminal valine of the β-chain of hemoglobin A-is related to the risk of long-term diabetic complications. This glycated protein can be measured in serum samples by capillary electrophoresis by using CZE, among other methods [52]. Usually for CZE analysis, samples are prepared in a simple way by treating blood with an emolyzing solution (aqueous glucose or phosphate buffer containing KCN) and ulterior dilution of the reaction product in Milli-Q water [53].…”

“…Therefore, there is an urgent clinical interest in finding a protocol that is more suitable for screening pregnant women for the development of thalassemia. And with the development of tech-nology, there are more accurate methods for HE detection in clinical settings, Such as capillary electrophoresis, etc (10). Among them, capillary electrophoresis is an HE analysis technique developed in recent years, mainly using capillary as the separation channel and high-voltage DC electric field as the driving force, which has the advantages of fast detection and high precision (11).…”
