Comparison of hyperpronation and supination-flexion techniques in children presented to emergency department with painful pronation

Abstract: It was found that in the reduction of radial head subluxations, the hyperpronation technique is more effective in children who were presented to ED with painful pronation compared with supination-flexion. However, there was no significant difference between these techniques in terms of pain.

“…There has been lot of literature support for hyper-pronation maneuver for reducing the pulled elbow with some studies proving it more efficient for reduction of pulled elbows in the first attempt . [3]. In this instead of supinating the forearm, a thumb is kept over the radial head and forearm is completely pronated to more than the entire normal range.…”
