Comparison of Iron Ore Sinter Mineralogy Quantification

Abstract: At present, the powder XRD is widely used analytical method for iron ore sinter mineralogy determination. In many types of research, diffraction data for SFCA and SFCA-I phases were not available, and diffraction data for other calcium ferrites were used instead. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to bring a comparison between the evaluation of diffractograms, when SFCA/SFCA-I, and, other calcium ferrites, respectively, are considered. As a result, the quantification of phases is quite comparable, when minera… Show more

“…The triclinic aluminosilicoferrites of calcium are the main bonding phases in lime-fluxed iron ore sinters that are used as the metalliferous blast furnace burden [2]. The composition of the aluminosilicoferrites may be expressed as X 2 Y 6 Z 6 O 20 , where X = Ca 2+ , Na + , K + ; Y = Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , Fe 2+ , Fe 3+ , Al 3+ , Ti 3+ , Ti 4+ , Cr 3+ , Mn 2+ ; and Z = Fe 3+ , Al 3+ , Si 4+ , Be 2+ , B 3+ [3].…”
