Abstract: Introduction Whole-body plethysmography is the preferred method for measuring the static lung volumes: total lung capacity (TLC), functional residual capacity (FRC) and residual volume (RV), as it also incorporates trapped gas – a common finding in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
