Comparison of Mechanical and Thermal Comfort Properties of Tencel Blended with Regenerated Fibers and Cotton Woven Fabrics

Abstract: The demand of cotton is increasing but its low production rate cannot fulfill the world requirements. The increase in cotton demand has augmented the production of regenerated cellulosic fibers. Furthermore, cotton has proved to be unsustainable because of the use of huge amount of fresh water, pesticides and insecticides. The purpose of this work is to find out the suitable blend/blends of regenerated fibers so as to replace 100% cotton fabrics. Therefore, mechanical and comfort properties of Tencel fabrics b… Show more

“…The structural parameters of knitted fabrics and majority of physical and mechanical properties depend on the technical characteristics of knitting machine and properties of yarns. The yarn diameter, origin of fibres, knitting structure, course and wale density, yarn twist level and linear density are the main factors affecting the porosity of knitted fabrics [15][16][17][18][19].…”

“…To know the fiber content of a fabric is essential because fiber content directly determines the performance, usage, and care of the fabric [1][2][3]. Due to their properties, cotton, wool, and polyester are the most widely used fibers in the textile industry [4].…”
