Comparison of Navigator Triggering Reduced Field of View and Large Field of View Diffusion-Weighted Imaging of the Pancreas

Abstract: Our results demonstrate better image quality and reduced artifacts in rFOV images compared with large FOV DWI. Measurements from ADC maps derived from rFOV DWI show significantly lower ADC values when compared with ADC maps derived from large FOV DWI.

“…In addition, the various scan parameters and fat-suppression technique might also affect the ADC value, and hence the absolute ADC threshold has a limited effect ( 22 ). Thus, a reduced field of view DWI was applied in the current study, and because some studies have pointed out that small vision DWI can reduce the artifacts and improve image resolution, the measured ADC value is rather accurate ( 25 ).…”

“…This avoids the influence of cystic and vascular areas, which have a higher diffusion capacity of water molecules 33 on ADC values, which would misrepresent the true ADC values of tumor parenchymal areas. Meanwhile, Mannelli et al 34 and Liu et al 35 highlighted that small vision DWI can reduce artifacts and improve image resolution, resulting in an accurate ADC measurement. Therefore, sADC may be more representative of the ADC of the true pancreatic tumor microenvironment.…”

“…5, over the small pancreatic ROI in comparison to the entire abdomen. This technique may help improve the diagnostic accuracy for pancreatic tumors in comparison with a conventional DWI sequence 83,84 . A study of rFOV DWI with b = 600 s/mm 2 showed that ADC values were not significantly different from that of the standard DWI acquisition method 83 …”
