“…However, few studies have been developed to evaluate the plant-environment interaction using the energy balance method, some with Opuntia spp. [13,14] and some with other species and ecosystems that include Cactaceae [15][16][17][18]. Consoli et al [13] evaluated ecophysiological variables and energy balance in an irrigated crop of O. ficus-indica under a semi-arid climate in Sicily (Italy).…”

“…The data processing steps from scintillometer measurements to surface fluxes are as follows: raw data to light intensity variance; light intensity variance to the structure parameter of the refractive index of air (C 2 n ); C 2 n to meteorological data; and, finally, obtaining surface fluxes combining the meteorologi- cal data. Four steps are taken to ensure the quality of scintillometer data (Liu et al, 2011;Zheng et al, 2023): (1) excluding data for C 2 n beyond the saturation criterion, (2) excluding data obtained during periods of precipitation, (3) excluding data when the demodulated signal is small, and (4) excluding data when the sensor is malfunctioning. The steps of the meteorological gradient observation system and AWS data processing and quality control were twofold: (1) all of the AWS data were averaged over an interval of 10 min for a total of 144 records per day (missing data were denoted by −6999) and (2) the unphysical data were rejected (gaps were denoted by −6999).…”

“…In the 1990s, high-precision CO 2 -H 2 O infrared analyzers were conducted to synchronously monitor the water vapor and CO 2 fluxes, which was a significant breakthrough and innovation in the EC observation technology [4,5]. The EC method has a high accuracy for estimating the sensible heat and latent heat flux, but the required instruments and sensors are expensive [6,7].…”
