“…As a kind of beam bridge structure widely used in practical engineering, U-beam bridges have the advantages of lower structure height and excellent anti-noise performance compared with box-beam bridges because of their unique structural characteristics [1,2]. U-beam bridges have become one of the important forms of railway and urban rail bridges.…”

“…Liang et al [20] studied the vibration and noise of a long-span steel truss cable-stayed bridge laid with damping pads, and the bridge noise was tested to reduce noise by 10~13 dB(A). Li et al [21] compared the radiation noise of U-shaped, single-box, and double-box girder bridges, and the radiation noise of the single and double box-girder bridges was 8.6 and 11.7 dB lower than that of the U-shaped beam bridge. Harrison et al [22] studied panel acoustic contributions of a steel-concrete bridge with a SEA model considering the roughness of the wheel-rail interface, and the noise reduction measure by optimizing the bridge structure was proposed.…”

“…The U-shaped viaduct has many advantages, such as the level of rail, which can be reduced due to the distance between the bottom of the flange and the rail, which results in savings in the foundation and station design. The visual effect is in the side webs acting as a noise barrier and the capability of retaining the rail on the bridge in case of such unfavorable conditions as severe earthquakes [11,[15][16][17][18]. A prestressed U-shaped girder is an innovative and creative concept in metro rail bridge structure design.…”
