Abstract: Both VSS and WFO treatments showed similar refractive and visual outcomes. Both induced significant positive spherical aberration, significantly more with WFO.

“…However, WFG treatment offered significant advantages in terms of residual refractive error, uncorrected distance acuity, and contrast sensitivity. In another study,25 when comparing the visual outcomes of variable spot scanning ablation versus WFO using the same excimer lasers, both treatments were able to correct myopia safely and effectively and the same visual performance of eyes was recorded in either group. Finally, in another study,24 WFG and WFO LASIK produced similar results in myopic patients.…”

“…Previous studies2325 that compared the visual outcomes of WFG versus WFO have evaluated the efficacy, safety, and predictability of both treatments, although Allegretto Wave Eye-Q 400 Hz was used instead of EX500 Excimer laser. In the study by He et al,23 on comparing the clinical outcomes of WFG LASIK versus WFO treatment, both treatments were able to correct myopia safely and effectively.…”

“…Thus, lasers such as the Summit excimer laser or Autonomous excimer laser, which have been shown to produce greater surface irregularity during stromal ablation, 39 also trigger greater anterior stromal fibrosis than lasers such as the VISX STAR S4/IR (Abbott Medical Optics, Inc., Santa Ana, CA, USA) or the WaveLight Allegretto Wave Eye-Q (Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Fort Worth, TX, USA) excimer lasers that generate smoother stromal surfaces. 40 …”

“…Currently, spot-scanning is the most advanced profiling method. It has a faster frequency, a more uniform laser beam, and a lower central island incidence rate [3]. The Technolas 217z laser platform (Bausch and Lomb, Munich, Germany) setting on tissue-saving profile is the ideal representative of spot-scanning profiling with a spot diameter of 2 mm and a frequency of 100 Hz.…”
