Comparison Study of Neighborhood Structures in Local Search for Vehicle Routing Problem with Multiple Trips and Time Windows

Abstract: This paper deals with the vehicle routing problem with multiple trips and time windows (VRPMTTW). The problem combines two features to the basic vehicle routing problem (VRP): multiple trips and time windows. The basic VRP and its variants fall into hard combinatorial optimization problems. Therefore, many heuristics have been developed to solve large problems. Local search (LS) is one of the heuristics using a neighborhood structure in order to find a better solution. This paper focuses on the comparative stu… Show more

“…In this case, the vehicles will back to depot first to unload the empty cylinder and load the full cylinder to meet the rest of customers' demand. The mathematical model used refers from (Kenaka & Suprayogi, 2021). Here is the complete mathematical model of this problem: The objective function is to minimize total transportation cost-fixed cost and variable cost defined in Eq.…”

“…Riazi et al [8] and Naderi et al [9] respectively employed column generation-based gossip and SP-timed logic-based benders decomposition algorithms to determine the solution of the model. In more recent research, several researchers utilized and compared the performance of metaheuristics on VRP problems [10,11,12]. These researchers solved VRP problems using a genetic algorithm with cluster-first route-second, neighborhood structures in local search, and the Camel algorithm (CA).…”
