Abstract:Background: Birthweight is an important indicator of the newborn's future health. Maternal factors, including age, HIV status, parity and obstetric complications ([pre]-eclampsia, antepartum hemorrhage [APH] and sepsis), however, have been shown as risk factors of low birthweight (LBW).
