Complement activation by LDL-apheresis using dextran sulphate

Abstract: LettersHCV-RNA, is not yet routinely available and is limited by false-positive or false-negative results.Meanwhile, in order to reduce the incidence of HCV infection, strict adherence to the universal precautions (CDC, Atlanta) must be carried out. According to current knowledge the application of these measures of hygiene is probably sufficient to prevent HCV spread in the dialysis setting, and the isolation of positive patients is not warranted.
