Complementary Sierpinski gasket fractal antenna for dual-band WiMAX/WLAN (3.5/5.8 GHz) applications

Abstract: A proximity-fed complementary Sierpinski gasket fractal with equilateral triangular shape resonator in multilayer structure to achieve dual-band behavior for WiMAX and WLAN applications has been proposed. An electromagnetic coupled stacked structure of two different patches operating at two frequencies (3.5 GHz WiMAX and 5.8 GHz wireless LAN) has been designed for dual-band wireless applications. Proposed antenna was simulated using CST Microwave Studio based on the finite integration technique (FIT) with perf… Show more

“…ECC gives the information about the amount of interference received by the antennas of an array due to each others radiation. For the two differently polarized antennas, ECC is zero . ECC also gives the information about the radiation pattern shape, relative phase of fields between two antennas and polarization b/w the two.…”

“…Therefore instead of increasing the thickness of substrate for bandwidth and gain improvement, which is an expensive method, the main aim of this article is to propose a stacked (multilayered) aperture coupled microstrip antenna (cost-effective without affecting the antenna dimensions much [6, 18, 19]) with slots and a defected ground structure (DGS) for bandwidth improvement to excite an UWB of operation for use in monostatic radar-based microwave imaging applications [2022].…”

“…Optimized antenna should be simple enough to get easily fabricated and can be efficiently integrated with radio frequency (RF) devices. Various designs like planar inverted F antenna , fractal , arbitrary shaped have been presented. But they all are complex.…”
