Abstract:Pectobacterium colocasium is a recently named, narrow-host-range phytopathogenic bacterium causing soft rot of taro (Colocasium esculenta). It is found on the Chinese mainland and the island of Taiwan. Taro is a domesticated crop with a long history of cultivation in Taiwan and the Pacific islands.
