Complete mitochondrial genome of Sitotroga cerealella (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)

Abstract: In this study, we have sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of Sitotroga cerealella, which is 15,312 bp and contains 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and a control region. Twenty-three genes were found to be encoded by the majority strand and the other 14 genes by minority strand, it is similar to Lepidoptera insects. The nucleotide compositions 39.60% of A, 11.80% of C, 40.90% of T, and 7.70% of G.

“…MW540822) is 15,269 bp in length, containing 13 PCGs, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 control region. The content of A + T is distinctly higher than that of G + C (A:39.5%; G:7.9%; C:11.5%; T:41.0%), which is similar to other Gelechiidae mitogenome (Yuan et al 2019 ). The 16sRNA gene and 12sRNA gene is 1341bp and 808 bp long, respectively.…”

“…The AT-skew and GC-skew of this mitogenome were À0.016 and À0.192, respectively. The gene composition and structure of T. absoluta were identical with other Gelechiidae species (Yuan et al 2019).…”

“…We assembled, polished, and automatically annotated the mitochondrial genome using Ag100MitoPolishCLR (https://github.com/Ag100Pest/Ag100MitoPolishCLR) (Allio et al, 2020; Formenti et al, 2021b), as previously described for H. zea (Stahlke et al, 2022). We seeded the assembly with the mitochondrial genome of a closely-related moth of the same tribe, Pexcopiini, Sitotroga cerealella (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae: Apatetrinae) (Yuan et al, 2019, NC_041123.1). Mitochondrial annotations were manually reviewed (Cameron, 2014) and corrected in Geneious Prime v2021.1.1 (Kearse et al, 2012).…”
