“…In solid organ transplantation, preclinical studies showed an increased lactate production in female rat liver transplant due to sexual hormones, specifically 17 beta-estradiol and progesterone. [20][21][22] We acknowledge several limitations. [17][18][19] Other hormones have yet to be explored, but several studies suggest a potential complex role of sex hormones in cardiac physiology.…”

“…[17][18][19] Other hormones have yet to be explored, but several studies suggest a potential complex role of sex hormones in cardiac physiology. [20][21][22] We acknowledge several limitations. First, because of the single-center nature of the study, results may not be generalized easily.…”

“…For every patient with CAH, a healthy control matched for sex, age, and smoking status was prospectively included in the CARDIOHCS study (NCT01807364) between May 2011 and August 2015 (8,9,10). Patients with CAH and healthy controls were all assessed at the Clinical Investigation Center Paris-Est (CIC-1421, Pitie-Salpetriere University Hospital, Paris, France).…”

“…On the other hand, investigation showed that female patients had significantly higher aldosterone levels than male patients, and investigators found a positive correlation between aldosterone levels and RV dilatation only in female but not in male patients . A recently published study revealed the association between sex hormones and left ventricular longitudinal strain …”
